This release is for the oppo bdp-103d darbee edition blu-ray disc player. this firmware is based on the current official firmware release for the bdp-103 and adds support for darbee. this change takes advantage of the main audio dsp (digital signal processor) that is normally assigned to the multi. Like earlier oppo blu-ray players, the bdp-103 is a digital media player (dmp), where it "pulls" content from a dlna server. what is new is that it is also a digital media renderer (dmr), meaning that a controlling device can "push" content to the player.. So, bottom line - if you can afford it, i highly recommend the oppo bdp-103, even if the rest of your system components aren't of the same caliber. after only a few days, i'm glad i made this purchase..
My oppo 103 is definitely compatible with both gpt and mbr partition table drives and all three of the main windows/macos file systems, i.e. fat32, exfat, and ntfs. it is my understanding that the ca player is essentially an oppo 105 on the inside with some key hardware upgrades.. - the 103 can work as a dlna digital media renderer, while the 93 is just a digital media player. this means that with the 103, you can launch file playback on the computer (select file, right click --> "play to", choose the oppo).. I just tried again using disk utility on a mac and autoscript wouldn't run on my oppo 103 when the usb drive was guid. i'm not knowledgeable about this stuff, but perhaps the problem is that when formatting guid exfat, i always get a child count of two..
