Bagi sebagian besar pengguna smartphone android mungkin masih banyak yang belum mengenal istilah USB OTG. Mungkin memang terdengar cukup asing, namun fitur ini bukan hal baru lagi di dunia teknologi smartphone. USB OTG adalah kependekan dari USB On The Go yang artinya adalah sebuah fitur pada smartphone yang berfungsi untuk mentransfer data dari smartphone android ke media penyimpanan atau bisa juga dikatakan sebagai konektor antara perangkat android dengan perangkat lain via usb. Contohnya Flashdisk, mouse, bahkan keyboard pun dapat terkoneksi secara langsung dengan android. Sehingga file file yang terdapat di dalam smartphone dapat dengan mudah ditransfer dan disimpan ke dalam media lain, bisa berupa file foto/gambar, musik, video, arsip, dll. Selain itu bagi embedded system developer, USB OTG pun bisa juga berfungsi sebagai media komunikasi data dengan board mikrokontroler, misalnya board arduino.
